The Institute of Eco-environmental Research was established in Sept. 2014. Focusing on the ecological and environmental problems existed in sustainable development of agriculture in Zhejiang province. The institute carries out applied and basic researches in the fields of agro-ecology and environments with the targets of investigation, assessment, monitoring, and controlling of the agro-ecosystem. It aims to establish academic predominance in term of studies on copping with the prevention of agricultural non-point source pollution, ecological agriculture, circular agriculture, and so on.
By the end of 2014, the institute has a total of 12 staff members, including 9 professors or associate professors. Among the researchers, 80% of them have doctor's degree.
There is a 600 m2 building in institute site that contains staff offices and three laboratories. The three comprehensive laboratories named “utilization of plant and livestock waste”, “soil pollution control and remediation” and “water pollution control” are equipped with atomic absorption spectrophotometer, ion chromatography system, high performance liquid chromatography and other large-scale analysis facilities. It has made some scientific and technological achievements in agricultural waste utilization, soil improvement, and water treatment.
