Chinese lunar new year is a big festival in the whole country, it lasts thounds of years.
Usually, when the day becomes cold, the winter comes with our final examinations and the tacheres complete all the works, it is always 10 or 15 days before the new year’s day. Then, the school will be closed for 20days or one month , it is called new years’ vacation. Chinese students all like to go back home because there is a big traditional celebration in all families. People have on new clothes, enjoy abundant food, visit the relatives. Some foreign students go back homeland and some stay at the China to enjoy and experience a newfangled Chinese life.
It is also traditional for every family to thoroughly cleanse the house, in order to sweep away any ill-fortune and to make way for good incoming luck. Windows and doors will be decorated with red color paper-cuts and couplets with popular themes of "good fortune" or "happiness", "wealth", and "longevity". Other activities include lighting firecrackers and giving money in red paper envelopes.
Ten days later, came Chinese new year’s eave. As the Christmas eve, Chinese new year’s eave is grander than any days during the whole year. Families will try best to stay together have a good dinner. As you expect, mothers (housewive) will be the most important person and also the busiest one. When it becames dark, wine or liquor will be fulled in various glasses or cups, drink is welcomed everywhere that day.
