Online Dissertation Defense


The University recently held an Online Dissertation Defense. A dissertation defense in general is the last formal step before the dissertation manuscript is submitted and the degree awarded. The primary goal of this defense is for the students to present the progress of their current research. Candidates had an online meeting with the dissertation committee and where required to present their reports via Power Point presentation.

The presentations were usually 10 to 15 minutes per candidate, the defense aim is to accomplish two goals. First, it will provide an occasion for the presentation and recognition of the completed doctoral work. Second, it will furnish the opportunity for discussion and formal evaluation of the dissertation. The is focus more on findings and implications, less on literature.
