The launch ceremony of the "My Beautiful Encounter with China" series of activities for international students in China, guided by the Ministry of Education's Department of International Cooperation and Exchange and hosted by the Ministry of Education's Service Center for Study Abroad, was held successfully in Beijing on April 7, 2023. The ceremony was attended by envoys from ten nations in China, approximately 100 award-winning foreign students and university instructors, representatives from several education ministries, the People's Daily Publishing House, and other institutions.

Cheng Jiacai, Director of the Service Center for Study Abroad of the Ministry of Education, Xi Ru, Second-level Inspector of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education, and Afifa Shajia Awais, Education Counsellor of the Embassy of Pakistan in China, delivered speeches.

The tournament drew over 700 foreign students from over 100 nations to compete in China through text and video. Following a review, 5 first prizes, 8 second prizes, 16 third prizes, and 31 excellence awards were given out. The award-winning work "My Beautiful Encounter with China - Excellent Works Collection of the 2022 International Students Essay Contest" was released by People's Daily Publishing House. For short video works, 45 great works were chosen, including three first prizes, five second prizes, eight third prizes, and 29 excellence awards. In the essay contest, our instructors and students received the National Excellence Award, Outstanding Instructor Award, Outstanding Organization Award, and so on, and were invited to the ceremony.

The Study in China "Cloud" Choir is a cloud choir made up of foreign students that like music. Their new piece "Letter from Kasuga" debuted as well. The song was co-written by Chinese and foreign youth, and more than 100 international students from 27 Chinese universities and 45 nations took part in the "cloud" approach. The song was performed live by 17 international students from 12 nations.

On the day of the event, the Ministry of Education's Service Center for Study Abroad released the 2023 "My Beautiful Encounter with China" series of activity plans, which include continuing to run the "My Beautiful Encounter with China" essay short video competition, holding the first overseas social media tweet contest, and selecting outstanding winners to carry out the "Encounter with Chinese Countryside - Beautiful Guizhou Tour" activity in an innovative manner.

Under the guidance of the Silk Road spirit of peaceful cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, mutual learning and mutual benefit, the organizers said that the "My Beautiful Encounter with China" series of activities will allow more international students in China to act as tellers of Chinese stories, disseminators of Chinese voices, and creators of Sino-foreign frivolity in 2023.
