The Chinese Bridge online group exchange project "Poetry and Painting Beautiful Jiangnan Tracing the Memories of Song Yun," hosted by the Ministry of Education's Sino-foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center and undertaken by Zhejiang University of Science and Technology's School of International Education, concluded successfully on April 15, 2023.
This online group project combines Chinese language learning and culture, using culture as the carrier, integrating vocabulary teaching, grammar teaching, and characteristic culture teaching, and combining teaching and interaction to allow students to enter the poetry of previous generations in the characteristic cultural series courses "Follow Ancient Poems to Travel West Lake", "Intangible Cultural Heritage in Jiangnan", "Hangzhou Legends", "Hangzhou and Tea", and "Eating in Hangzhou". Improve international students' understanding of Chinese cultural ideas.
Given the overall high level of Chinese proficiency of Chinese bridge students, a moderate intersection of Chinese and English teaching was used in professional courses to help students further consolidate their Chinese learning achievements on the one hand, and fully understand China's historical development, contemporary practice and application, and future development trend in poetry, intangible cultural heritage, tea culture, and Jiangnan region on the other. 9 live courses, including "Hangzhou's Internationalization and Future Development Opportunities for International Talents," are available. "Traveling to West Lake with Ancient Poems" and "Hangzhou Legends," as well as three recorded courses, "Intangible Cultural Heritage in Jiangnan," "Different Life in Hangzhou for International Students," and "Introduction to Hangzhou Characteristic Blocks," present not only professional theoretical explanations, but also case explanations, not only the condensation and summary of past experience, but also the prospect and expectation of future exploration, presenting the development.
During the project's execution, the professors carefully prepared the course, the students actively engaged in the course, and the course interaction reached a climax. Many participants stated the training was difficult yet intriguing. Students hurried to publish their learning tracks after finishing three recording professional courses. Many students truly encouraged their lecturers to visit their home countries at the end of the course. The Chinese Bridge program may be appealing since it bridges the gap between students and teachers all around the world. The 10-day internet gathering allowed international students to experience the allure of Chinese and come into contact with the rich Chinese culture, using Chinese as a bridge and culture as a beam. It is intended that the students will visit China as soon as possible and visit China's gorgeous rivers and mountains to see, directly experience, and appreciate Chinese cultural aesthetics.
