Chimezie Okeoma OGU, Consul General of Nigeria in Shanghai, and Charles A. IGWE, President of the University of Nigeria, visited our school on April 27. The Nigerian team was received by Zhao Dongfu, Secretary of the University's Party Committee, and Li Qipeng, Vice President of the University.
Zhao Dongfu greeted the Nigerian visitors and offered deep gratitude to the Nigerian Consulate General in Shanghai for its long-term strong support to our institution. He stated that Nigeria is our university's fourth largest source country for overseas students. As a university with distinct international characteristics, Zhejiang University of Science and Technology will seize the opportunity to strengthen exchanges with Nigerian universities and contribute appropriately to promoting educational cooperation and cultural exchanges between China and Nigeria.
Chimezie Okoma Ogu praised our school's worldwide education accomplishments. He stated that the Nigerian Consulate General in Shanghai would vigorously support cooperation projects between our institution and Nigerian universities such as the University of Nigeria, and that he intends to encourage more Nigerian students to study and work in China. Charles Yigewei highlighted the Nigerian university development method and successes. He stated that his visit to Zhejiang University of Science and Technology is a significant opportunity, and he hopes that the two sides may collaborate in teacher-student exchanges, cooperative research, joint training, and other areas.At the meeting, Li Qipeng and Charles Yigewei, as authorized representatives of the two institutions, signed the cooperation framework agreement. The Nigerian group visited the Colleges of Construction and Engineering and Biochemistry to examine potential collaboration in related subjects.
The School Office, International Office, and School of International Education will all be involved in appropriate activities.
