On the afternoon of December 4th, Zhou Cuiying, A professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Mechanics and Civil Engineering and Architecture of Sun Yat-sen University, gave an academic report entitled "Academic Lecture: Research on Red Beds and Disaster Prevention and Control". Vice Dean Huang Yangfei presided over the meeting, and Dean Xia Jianzhong, young teachers of the college and relevant graduate students attended the meeting.
The "Research on Red Bed Catastrophic Prevention and Control" project undertaken by Professor Zhou Cuiying focuses on the core scientific issues of the mutual feeding of red bed geological genes and complex environment and the prevention and control of catastrophic disasters, and studies the geological genes, interface processes and disaster gestation laws of red bed catastrophic geogenes, interfaces and disasters based on the multidisciplinary integration theories of engineering geology, disaster geology and ecological geology, reveals the causal mechanism of buried red bed geological disasters, semi-naked red bed engineering diseases, and bare red bed ecological damage, and addresses outstanding problems such as red bed geological disasters, engineering diseases and ecological damageIn order to make a major breakthrough in the theory and technical methods of red bed catastrophe breeding, genesis and prevention and control, and put forward the theory and key technologies of resilience coordinated prevention and control, so as to achieve an important breakthrough in the basic research of red bed disaster prevention and control. The project will provide scientific and technological support for disaster prevention and mitigation and ecological environmental protection in the red beds, and provide an important guarantee for the implementation of major national strategies in the red bed area.
After the end of the report, Professor Zhou Cuiying communicated with us, and the young teachers and graduate students actively asked questions, covering multiple dimensions such as basic theory consolidation, practical operation of scientific research projects, and academic paper writing. In the face of young teachers' confusion about the connection between teaching and research, Professor Chow Cuiying shared her personal experience and gave practical suggestions to help them clarify the way of teaching and learning. In view of the problems of graduate students in experimental design and data processing, the professor patiently explained and pointed out the direction from detail control to overall planning.
Zhou Cuiying, is a professor of Sun Yat-sen University, chief scientist of major projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, standing member of the soft rock special committee of the International Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, chairman of the Red Bed Engineering Branch of the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, chairman of the Guangzhou Society of Construction Engineering and Ecological Environment Safety, director of the Guangdong Provincial Major Infrastructure Safety Research Center, national object of the Thousand Hundred and Ten Project, outstanding teacher in southern Guangdong, and winner of the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Special Award. He is mainly engaged in the research of red bed catastrophe and prevention and control. He has presided over major projects, key projects, major instrument projects, and projects of the National 863 Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
